Hello,
As I said before Istanbul is a crowded city, but it may be a problem for you when you are in traffic. In most cases, you probably will spend your time in touristic areas and well known city centers and etc so, it won’t be a problem for you. By the way I don’t want to frighten you by saying crowded city for Istanbul because it also has a large land too. I just compare it with American cities.
I can say that people of Istanbul are a sum of population of Turkiye. We can find someone form each city of Turkiye. It is clear that people of some cities are in big numbers.
After the industrilization period, many turkish people from other cities migrated to Istanbul. And they brought their families after a short while and later they brought their relatives too for better job opportunities and life conditions. This period was after 1960s and still continiues but in very less intense if we compared to the past. This migration brings the today’s diversity. So, we can say Istanbul is a sum of Turkiye. We can easily find different foods, traditions, approachings, styles, fashions of those people in Istanbul. If you would have a chance to participate some weddings, you may see different dancing and playing styles and listen different kinds of music. And, (this is the best part for me), you can find different kinds of food come from regional cuisines of Turkiye. I strictly recommend you to taste turkish food during your visit in Istanbul and food issue seriously deserves much attention to be mentioned in many future posts.
I can say turkish people are mostly helpful and warm-hearted people. At least, we all hear that from tourists. I can say they are loveful to tourists. And it would be wonderful if you had a chance to visit them in their homes. You may experience their hospitality and taste the delicious food.
And shop owners in touristic areas are mostly know english and people who are elder teenagers and in twenties generally know english but old people generally don’t know. If you need to talk to someone, you may try to talk to them. Unfortunately, in turkish education system, students learn english on paper and they are not good at conversational english. Of course you can communicate but it may be a little bit slowly.
Ok, it is short but new ones will come, see you!
